The Hammond Family’s Camping Vacation

Our mission:

1.  Vacation on a budget

2.  Be near the water

3.  Have fun with the kiddos

Our Rookie camping trip began with a rocky start!

Problem #1

Hardly anyone took reservations so it was first come, first serve.  We took a list of area campgrounds and called several on the way only to be told that they were booked solid.  Luckily we found a GREAT campground that was about 15 minutes away from the Lake.  From what we saw, we think it was the best campground anyway!

Being Rookie Campers, we really didn’t know what we were doing 🙂

Luckily, tents are fairly easy to assemble…

Voila!

Voila!

Problem #2

We only put 1 tent together, INSIDE OUT!  I thought that was pretty impressive for Rookies!

The kids had loved riding bikes around the campground

while we [ I mean, Brad ] did all the work.

We had fun catching bugs

And hanging out by the campfire

But the BEST part was the BEACH!

We had a GREAT time!  If you live around this area, you HAVE to go to Presque Isle. It was the perfect place to take kids!  And it was just beautiful!  Very oceanesque!  They loved the sand bottom and the shallow water.  I loved that you could see the bottom of the lake!

Over all, it was great “family time”!  I can’t wait to do it again!  Mission Accomplished!

Holy Guacamole!! What a beautiful time for you all! I love your word – oceanesque!! That’s what it reminds me of even from the pics. You guys can have fun anywhere, but this park was such a wonderful display of God’s creation PLUS a family ready to have fun and just chill out. Water, bonfires, and a fabulous family = a super time. So glad you have this memory stored in your hearts, as everyone hunkers down for the school year.

    Love you guys —
